Imagine waking up every morning to a storm you cannot escape. Or carrying a backpack that gets heavier every day. Well, the backpack is your brain, and its load is your mental health.
But what is mental health? Mental health is our psychological, emotional and social well-being. It is a crucial part of our development as it influences every aspect of your life, from decision-making to stress management.
One can protect mental health by managing stress, getting enough sleep, talking openly, exercising regularly, and maintaining positive, supportive relationships.
While the world pauses every year on 10th October to observe World Mental Health Day, conversations around mental well-being cannot, and should not, be limited to a single day. They remain just as important, even months later.
Habit formation is another powerful way of keeping your mind healthy. It is when repeated actions turn into automatic behaviours. For example, instead of being reminded to brush every morning, you build a habit and one day, you do it without being told.
Good habits improve productivity, health, and mental well-being, and help in reducing stress. We can build habits by starting small, setting clear goals, staying consistent, and making rewarding progress. Over time, they create discipline and make positive behaviors automatic, leading to lasting success and stability.
A healthy mind isn’t found — it’s built, one habit at a time.
