What is a story? A story is a narrative form of ideas, fantasy or just imagination from different corners on a paper. It is a way of conveying a message, moral or an act of goodness and generosity in the reader’s mind. Why do we enjoy reading stories? It is the idea of the story that makes us delve deep into it. Imagine a story being like “A character going to the market, purchasing some groceries and coming back home”. Will this plot turn out into a good story without any twist, conflict or an interesting element in it? Not really.
It was December 24th. Little Mary, holding her dad’s index finger, was waiting eagerly at the railway station to receive her mom. She waited and waited and waited but to her dismay, the train did not turn up.
Markin gazed over the holy Mesytah, as it gleamed and shined in the moonlight. He wore a gold cloak and a gold hat, true to his reputation. God of Gold, as he was called by the humans who lived in their little clusters beneath the holy Mesytah. The Mesytah had been an illusion, a blockade, so the humans couldn’t see their place, gods as they were called. But there was a problem. The Mesytah originated from the Malkake, the huge lake in the middle of their kingdom. And the lake was drying up. If the Mesytah stopped flowing, it would only be a matter of time before the humans found out their secret kingdom.
Writing. It has been here since, well, forever and is perhaps one of the most underrated art forms in the world. Think about it. Your daily newspaper is written, books are written, your favourite songs have lyrics which are written, laws and rules are written. It is perhaps an art which governs the whole world.
Cooking seems scary to me. The house could burn down, or you could use the wrong ingredients and end up killing yourself. It was my first time alone, cooking from a very unpopular recipe. It sounded tasty so I thought why not try it out!
The last ingredient had a very tongue twisting, unique name, that I had found at a shop tucked at the corner. The moment I added it, rainbow colored smoke started filling my bungalow.
If you look up ‘Racism’ in the dictionary, it would show that it means prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people based on their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically a minority or marginalized.
During my summer holidays, I was on a streak of drawing sceneries every day. While browsing through the internet, I found a breath-taking scenery of the beach. So, I asked my mother if it was good because she was the one who got me going on a streak of drawing scenic views. She agreed that I could draw it.
There is already taboo around mental health and when it comes to children, the struggles get accentuated. So many kids and teens have got impacted post the pandemic, and we need to support them as they deal with a range of emotional upheavals. The first step, we believe, is to give them a platform to come forth and bare their souls. They need this safe space to express and hence, we were more than glad to collaborate with WICCI National Mental Health Council for a one-of-its-kind open mic for children held on 18th September 2021. This beautiful and important endeavour led to 20+ kids stepping forward and vowing us with their profound and deep thoughts. Some made us smile, some made us cry and some made us ponder.
